The IM2605 integrates a synchronous 4-switch Buck-Boost converter that maintains output voltage regulation when the input voltage is either less than or greater than the output voltage. It operates as a Buck converter while the input voltage is sufficiently greater than the output voltage and gradually transitions to the Buck-Boost mode as the input voltage approaches the output. It also features an internal fixed soft-start function and offers protection features including input UVLO, OCP, overload protection (OLP), OVP and thermal shutdown. In addition, it features selectable FCCM or DCM operation for light load. The IM2605 also control two low N-MOSFETs as load switches helping to reduce BOM cost. With a micro-processor, it can realize input bulk capacitance discharging during power swap.
